Every student learns on a different learning curve. My general teaching style includes a balance of technique and musicality. I asks students to keep a notebook where I break up the materials for them to practice for efficiently. I also look for other materials. if the student moves at a faster or needs additional help. I have a general structure of teaching I used with all students and personalize lessons accordingly; Read More

I have been teaching for the past 11 years and have had a full studio of 20-25 students during that time. Over the past four summers I have also directed chamber music and fiddle music camps. I specialize in starting very young children on the violin, as young as age 2, although depending on the child starting between ages 3-6 is ideal. It is very important to me to tailer my teaching to each student and their developmental and musical level. Read More

Throughout these years I held my own private studio teaching the Suzuki Method. I have learned that to teach is essential in a craft such as mine. It is my duty and joy to pass on the knowledge that I have been fortunate to receive from the previous generations of pedagogues. My students' ages have ranged from 4 years old to early 60s. I find this to be a rich privilege to discover different ways to teach all age groups. Read More

Communication is a key element of any student-teacher relationship. While most instrumental training can be fairly orthodox in nature, Im primarily interested in striking a balance between the clarity and focus that convention can offer and the creative desires of the student. In short, I believe that creating a democratic space for the student to learn and grow can keep the experience fresh, exciting, and encouraging. Read More

I started teaching part time while still in high school back in my native Malaysia and that is where my experience began. I taught on and off while in Malaysia during the pandemic (due to the nature of COVID), but I have gotten into regular teaching since moving to LA in 2022. I am an instructor who emphasizes student success, happiness, fulfillment and result. I understand that some students have different wants, needs and priorities when it comes to music education and I am ready to cater to all student types! Read More

I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I maintain an active career as an orchestral, chamber, and freelance musician. In addition to performing regularly as a guest violist at the San Diego Symphony Orchestra and Pacific Symphony, I held a section position in the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, and served as principal of the Verbier (Switzerland) and Lake George (New York) Music Festival Orchestras and PRISMA Academy Orchestra (Canada.) As a soloist and an active chamber music artist, I gave a solo viola premier at National Sawdust (Brooklyn, NY), and viola recitals in Manchester Music Festival Winter House Series (Stratton Mountain, VT) Piano on Park (New York), Fordham University Church (Bronx, NY) and Percy Grainger Society (White Plains, NY). I began teaching lessons 4 years ago when I decided to set foot on my career path of choice. I knew teaching violin would always become my career but didn't know quite how I would get there, and here I am 4 years later still pursuing it every day more passionately and purposefully than I have before. I started with posting substitute or private lessons online and got so many great job offers, and from then on I have advertised in schools and local music studios to bring in more clients. Read More
