Though I will use basic materials to give students the knowledge necessary to begin, I believe it is important to allow students to play things themselves, to make mistakes because that is how we learn. My goal is to teach people music not to show them, meaning I provide the framework for a student's improvement so the student themselves can finish building the way they want to. My lesson style consists of working on fingering and plucking first from Essential Method Book for Strings or the Suzuki book (for the beginning students who are children). While they (children) are practicing, I encourage/ recommend them to memorize the songs if they can. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. After graduating high school I relocated to the Austin, Texas area. I have performed as a section violinist with Round Rock Symphony, Victoria Symphony, Temple Symphony, Laredo Philharmonic, Austin Civic Orchestra, and Gilbert and Sullivan Austin. From 2014 to 2015, I was a violinist of the Modus Novus String Quartet, a new music ensemble formed with graduates of the Berklee College of Music. For beginning strings students (even young children) to advanced students, I use the Suzuki method along with the accompanying sight reading book, I Can Read Music. Advanced students who have reached Suzuki book 6 and beyond are invited to seek out other repertoire as a supplement to their Suzuki studies. Students who are involved in an orchestra are also invited to bring excerpts of their music to their lessons so that I can help them to feel confident and prepared at playing tests and auditions.
