I have a great breadth and depth of experience with instrumental music education. Clarinet has been my primary performance instrument, but I have found over the years that the techniques that I use to teach clarinet are easily and successfully transferable to the other instruments that I teach. I use the Suzuki method for violin and the Alfred curriculum for piano. The Suzuki Method really focuses on the ability to train the ear first before reading music. I believe it is important to teach music reading skills as well as playing by ear. Open-minded and flexible, Nerea strives for her students to learn through fun, hands on activities, always leaving her lessons with smiles on their faces. Beginner students are always taught the basics of posture, positioning and how to move the bow on the strings. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! I tailor things to each students age, level and goals. I think anyone is able to learn an instrument and understand that we each learn and approach things differently. Some students are more oral or visual learners.
