I like to use the Suzuki books as a basis solely for musical progression, but technical set up is catered to differently for each student. Upon graduation from college, I worked with autistic support students within Pittsburgh Public schools. I secured my music teaching position working in the same district shortly there after. While some instructors incessantly talk about theory, history, and other music concepts, I prefer to keep the talking to a minimum and have my students play their instrument as much as possible. I always start my students off with a warm-up consisting of scales or a technical exercise that relates to the piece that we are working on.
