We learn to speak through trial and error having no wrong words and music should be taught in a similar fashion, where there are no wrong notes. We learn our speaking style, manner and/or accents by what we hear and this concept also applies to music; therefore listening is a crucial part for advancement and the pleasure of learning. I've taught in New York City, Los Angeles, and Oklahoma since 2009. In New York City, I teach theatre technique at a musical theatre school. In Los Angeles, I teach Alba Technique at an Actor's Workshop. In Oklahoma, working with children, I've taught ages 6-adult, directing musical and theatrical productions like Grease, Les Miserables, Much Ado About Nothing, and The War of the Worlds. I try to reinforce the idea that it is not a failure because you tried, what can we use from that experience to get closer to what you were trying to accomplish next time.
