Teaching is a journey of discovery, growth, and mutual inspiration. My approach is centered on creating an environment where learning becomes an exciting exploration rather than a mere instruction. I view myself as a guide, nurturing the innate curiosity and talents of my students while providing them with the tools and knowledge they need to flourish in their musical pursuits. My teaching approach is characterized by fostering a personalized connection with each student, nurturing their passion for music, and building a strong foundational understanding. Read More

For beginners, I firmly believe in establishing strong fundamentals. However, you can't spell fundamentals with out "fun"! So, even while building fundamentals, music lessons should be fun and geared toward what the student wants out of all of this. Whether that's learning a specific song, style, cool musically visual trick, or just jamming, I'm here for it all! Musical journeys are specific to the individual and therefore there is no one path that all students must follow. Read More

My 5 years of teaching experience, and 20+ years of performing experience has helped me gain a storehouse of helpful knowledge, wisdom and methods. Having worked with all voice types, I have learned that each voice is unique and should be treated as such. I have always allowed my students to work at their own pace, but I have also learned when it is more beneficial to help push my students. As a performer, I have been commended for my artistry. I generally use different methods with different students. Since I expect excellence, I tend to treat students as professional colleagues, expecting them to work as hard and effectively as I do. I tend to develop my own methods as we progress, encouraging introspection by the student and developing a sense of musical independence. Success is subjective; enjoying one's journey is not. If a student is not enjoying the process then what's the use? Read More

For piano lessons I generally prefer to use the Alfred curriculum, but am well versed in other options should the student already be accustomed to certain styles. I have assisted students with their Certificate of Merit completion, and worked several students through the entire Alfred curriculum, till they went on to achieve collegiate scholarship opportunities. As a voice teacher, I employ a Bel Canto technique, and specialize in a Musical Theater Style and Classical Background. Read More

I take a very kinesthetic approach to teaching. I believe that no matter the level or style, evey singer benefits from understanding the way their vocal anatomy functions, and how to utilize it in a healthy way. Vocal longevity is a very high priority in my studio, as is having a good time. I am a firm believer that a teacher who does not help a student fall in love with their art has not done their job.
