Besides teaching music I also tutored kids in various academic subjects and taught dance classes. I was drawn to education and instruction from a young age, and began helping younger musicians through a local mentoring program, then volunteered as a student tutor and teacher's aide in musical and english programs. My approach is always to encourage a student to stop using language like that was bad or that sucked. Its not the best or most productive way of getting you freer and singing with less tension or nerves. What I look to motivate in a student is becoming aware of any tension or nerves and explore where it comes from. Become an analyst.
