My students get to choose some of their repertoire and lesson content as it makes it more enjoyable for them. I do require all students to play scales as they provide an essential foundation for all that they will play. An accomplished musician, bandleader and music director as well, Jason has toured both nationally and internationally, having played, performed and recorded with the legendary Lou Reed, international recording artist, Rachael Yamagata, national recording artist and stage/screen actor, Val Emmich and others. I would ask for the student to prepare a song of their choice and we would typically spend a few lessons learning the fundamentals and engaging in proper technique. My style is relaxed, confident and detailed. I am passionate about the music and love to see my students enjoying the art of expressing themselves and communicating through song. I begin each lesson with yoga, strand deep breathing. I believe that the body should be as free from stress as possible and that my student’s breathing should be as natural and organic as possible.
