I was born and raised in Australia. I graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2000, and have since performed in a number of musicals and theatre productions in Oz, including Oklahoma, Les Miserables and The Vagina Monologues (2007 ITA Best Actress Award). As a critically acclaimed cabaret performer, I toured the cabaret and festival circuits in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth before moving to NYC last year. I am an Alumni of the International Cabaret Conference at Yale, won last year’s Annual Broadway Spring Festival Shana Farr Cabaret Competition and have since performed solo cabarets at the Metropolitan Room and The Duplex. I always start my lessons off with vocal exercises in order to assess the status of the voice and what we need to work on, and also what progress has been made since our last session, if any. In order to keep my students interested, I like to work on repertoire that theyre interested in and that they select. I definitely suggest pieces that I think might help practice areas of their vocal technique that they would like to improve, but I also want to make sure its music that they like and want to sing. I graduated from Rutgers University in 2012 with a bachelors in Psychology and Theater Arts, and spent much of my time performing on stage in musicals and plays.
