Teaching has been my profession since before my college days, when I begun by teaching guitar lessons to classmates. Since college, it has been my primary occupation. I lead by example as a musician, and I encourage regular quality practice and cultivate an attitude of discipline and a drive to greatness. A cross-discipline in music is my primary approach to teaching, and I make a point of educating my students in how to communicate with other musicians. Read More

My methods used for piano students are the Randall and Nancy Faber teaching books; they are among the very best teaching materials due to their ease of comprehension, their logical sequence of concepts taught, and also their practical exercises and songs for the student. My methods used for Band instruments (trumpet, clarinet, flute, drums, and trombone), are the Standard of Excellence books, as they are also among the very best in regards to explaining musical concepts, presenting new songs, and logical progression. Instruments: Voice
I have been teaching for 5 years, ever since of friend of mine asked for some lessons to help him get back to singing. I loved the direct connection to this very personal aspect of peoples' lives, and I felt humbled by the trust I was given. I gained experience by doing, asking questions, and really listening to the needs of my students. I listen a lot, and do my best to find creative, sustainable solutions to issues that could come up in the voice while also being as encouraging and realistic as possible. Read More

As an educator, I believe that no two students are exactly alike -- each student has their own strengths and learn at different paces. It's important to use those strengths and foster them to achieve the best possible goal. By finding out what interests the student, I can cater to their individual needs, wants, and creativity. I start with the basics on any level of singer just to get a feel for their voice. For children I like to utilize a lot of imagery to go along with making sounds first and then worrying about the correctness later. Training the ear in singing is very important and also learning about the body in terms of singing is key. I have a set regimen of warm ups for both men and women than I alternate depending on the students age and skill level. Read More
