I believe it is important to build a strong technical foundation and knowledge of the mechanics of the voice, while also focusing on performance and real-world musicianship. With contemporary music theory (beginning to advanced) integrated into each lesson, students learn to understand and apply a musical vocabulary that is necessary to communicate in the industry. As a vocalist myself, I think too often singers have trouble communicating with their bands in a rehearsal setting or with producers and engineers in a recording setting; therefor I see the benefit in students being able to identify the grooves and "feels" of their selected pieces as well as being able to count-in a band. My approach is highly structured. We might start with warm-ups. This can mean, for example, Hanon exercises on the piano. Or playing scales on the guitar. I like to set tempos and practice rhythm as we run scales and chords. Sometimes I use a beat box. I believe in getting the client playing. I play only to demonstrate. I can also be a side player, and play a rhythm part, if the client is playing a solo. Read More

Music has been the most important part of my life since day one. I am enthusiastic about sharing and instilling this same love of music in the next generation of musicians. As a performer with over 10 years of experience in a variety of genres, the most important thing Ive learned is there is no one path or right way to be a musician. My studies and performances have led me all over the world; from India to china, Spain, and all across the United States. Read More

I have worked professionally with children in every age group including age 2, and adults of elderly age. I also have worked with those with ADHD, post stroke, type 1 diabetes ect so I am very comfortable and sympathetic to adjustments whenever necessary. I'm a yoga instructor, and have a very easy going vibe, though I am surprisingly organized and believe in always finding creative techniques to surpass our goals sooner than thought possible. I began teaching private music lessons in college in 2003. I have been teaching lessons consistently for the last 10 years from my home studio, online, as well as traveling to the students' home. I find great pleasure in hearing a student's progress, that's why I encourage recording their practice and having a consistent practice schedule. I feel it is important to give positive reinforcement and feedback to students. I am always excited to bring on new students of many different age groups! I believe it is important to keep the lesson interesting to the student by incorporating music for technique but also songs that the student enjoys playing. Read More
