Aside from vocal music, I also played in the wind ensemble on trumpet and had my own funk outfit outside of classes to fullfill my own creative direction. After graduating in the Winter of '11 I moved to Colorado to find a better audience for the funk, jazz and fusion music that I have personally gravitated towards. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students get really excited about reaching their goals. I consistently encourage students by giving them positive feedback about the progress they are making. I also help them push themselves to become better singers by being an inspiration and a mentor for them throughout their journey. I do feel that music is a journey, not a destination. As each student brings with them characteristics that are physical, mental as well as emotional, learning these characteristics allows me insights which form the creative process.
