Instruments: Voice
For beginning students, I focus on the essentials of theory and intervals and combine with the Voice for Life method. Each lesson is tailored to the student's needs and goals, so no lesson is exactly alike in structure. For intermediate to advanced students, I focus on aural (ear) training, sight singing and rhythm and follow it with prepared pieces in order to be "audition ready". For the intermediate to advanced students, I don't use a specific tool for teaching as I feel once you are past the fundamentals of music, everyone learns differently. Read More

Especially on piano and keyboards, I have found that combining classical music and learning from books with learning music that students enjoy listening to on their own can revolutionize how students learn and enjoy their instrument. I was keenly interested in books and literature and this passion led to further interest in composition and verse. At 15, my big sister gave me her used and no-longer-played acoustic guitar and from there I taught myself basic chords, scales and simple songs. It didnt take long before I began matching lyrics to chords and composing songs, strumming chords and creating melodies. Read More

I am very goal-oriented in my teaching because it provides not only motivation but proof for my students. In that vain, it's important for me to understand why a student is taking lessons so that we can effectively work together to progress. Wether the goal is to familiarize a young student with note reading and musical ideas, to help a musical hobbyist learn their favorite hits, or to train technique for refined classical music performance - I take a tailored approach to each student's instruction.
