I am a high energy instructor that brings my passion for singing, attention to the individual, and knowledge of vocal technique into each and every lesson. I graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2011 with a Bachelor of Musical Arts Degree. I continued my education and received a Masters of Music degree from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in 2013. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part-time many years ago while learning piano at University and working in children's creative center. I began to teach students in my home studio. Working in Musical theater, I gained more experience teaching piano and voice, accompaniment to ballet classes and theatrical plays. For "pop-style" singing I tend to borrow some useful vocal warm-ups from Roger Love's "Singing with the Stars",but most of them are modified or tailored versions of scale warm-ups. For structuring lessons I follow the structure of the book "Singing for Dummies" because I have found it to go through the modules of learning to sing in an order that makes a lot of sense and it is a good foundation to refer to. I began teaching private music lessons in 2017 during college. I have continued this for the last two years. I love to teach my students not only how to play/sing music, but also how to perform! I started teaching in 2008 and my studio at its maximum capacity was 30 students - a large portion with whom I worked consistently for 3 years until I decided pursue graduate school. While at UNL I taught applied voice and diction, and literature classes as a teaching assistant.
