My teaching style is strongly based on the constructivist method of learning. What that means is I prefer to help students by means of demonstrating skills( Left/ right-hand technique, excerpts from music, etc.), to scaffold their learning, and to help them overcome challenges by means of critical thinking and problem-solving. Setting practice goals and also keeping a practice journal is an effective way to keep students on track with their playing development. Read More

The classes are planned based on the individual's voice range. In general, classes begin with breathing techniques, followed by vocal warm-ups. Students at a beginner level will learn German lieder or Italian songs from the "24 Italian Songs and Arias" from the Schirmer's Publishing. For those at a higher level, we will work on arias from distinct operas and songs from distinct composers. Read More

As an active performer, I expect a lot from my students. Anyone who is contacting me will definitely get A BIG BANG FOR THEIR BUCK!! As a young teacher I'm not intimidating but up to date with the younger students. With the older students I am informative and helpful wrapped in grace, class and respect! Read More

A warm up I use to take care of this issue is asking the student to make a fire siren noise and I go up an octave (ex. do-do, re-re,mi-mi). In an adult I will ask the student to yawn (lifting the soft palate) and sigh at the same time. This is a very simple correction to make in students of all ages. The important thing is to create a nurturing environment in which a student will best understand what I am teaching them. Read More

Once I find out their level, I take things one step at a time. I always do warm ups, and exercises based on wha t they need work on. I am patient with the students but I do expect them to come prepared. If they do well, I will absoutely let them know, and if they need to work on something, I politely let them know. I want this to be an experience they enjoy, and want to practice, so that's why I am patient, and nice. Read More

I believe the ultimate goal of music education is to not create perfect musicians but to help our children, our neighbors, and our community have a greater understanding of the world around them. To help them see how they connect with music and each other. If a love for music is fostered as well then I am thrilled. But my main role is to teach all of my students and not simply cater towards the privileged, and talented. Read More
