For children, I do not use books or complicate bibliography to teach. I encourage children to discover music through their own curiosity. Using historical imagery and references of the natural world that surrounds us, is very effective way to help children understand music. My favorite moments while teaching is the light bulb moments, for these to occure lessons are goal based and created around the students level of exsperiece, future goals, and personal goals. In the first lesson we set mini goals for each lesson, medium goals for the month, and large goals for something we want to work towards or a up and coming competition. I use a positive environment to help student feel good about their accomplishments, but also have them discover areas of improvement by recording them or asking them what they feel they did well and what they feel they need to work on. I like to give fun, free feeling lessons. While I go into each lesson with a goal in mind, I enjoy going on brief tangents for life lessons, performance tips, or applicable and funny stories. I am known to be very animated and energetic as a teacher and I have learned that students feed off of this energy, allow us to be more productive which results in outcomes that are significantly greater. I like to focus on fundamentals and excellent musical character before working into repertoire and I have had a great deal of success with my students, having used this approach. Soprano, Amanda W. is recently graduated from Bowling GreenState University with her Master's in Vocal Performance. For her undergrad, she attended Eastern Michigan University and received her Bachelor's in Vocal Performance. She attended the Utah Vocal Arts academy over the summer of 2017. For the summer of 2016, she was given a tuition scholarship by the American Institute of Musical Studies to study in Graz, Austria. During the years 2015-2016, she was a young artist with the Pittsfield Opera Theatre and sang with the Dixboro United Methodist Chancellor Choir. Read More

Hello! I am a High Lyric Mezzo-soprano and a 2016 graduate of the School of Music, Theatre Dance at the University of Michigan, where I received my Master of Music in Voice Performance. A native of Florida, I went to Stetson University for my Bachelor of Music in Voice with a focus in Music Education/Choral Conducting.
