Establishing a trusting and balanced bond between teacher and student is imperative to musical growth. Everyone has their own tastes, goals and preferred learning and communication styles. I take pride in embracing more of a mentoring approach, tailoring my teaching style and materials to each individual student in hopes of guiding them on their musical journey rather than choosing it for them. I believe in creating a strong basis of knowledge in theory, technique, and composition (at the levels appropriate for the student's current progress). Read More

Depending on your level of experience that you are currently at; I design custom lessons that work on developing your technique and understanding about your instrument. I will teach you how to strum/transition chords, develop rhythm and timing, lead solo, picking/fingerpicking, slide, capo as well as bass guitar mechanics along with many other concepts that will immediately improve the way you play and approach the instrument whether guitar or bass. I love to do a combination of Suzuki and traditional styles. I believe ear-training and traditional sight-reading are both crucial to young musicians. I began Suzuki piano when I was five and I'm so thankful to have such a keen ear as a professional violinist. If the student has had music lessons before, I'm very happy to continue teaching whatever method they had previously started with. I believe method should be catered to the student and the student's needs as a beginning/intermediate musician. Read More

I am classically trained, so my teaching methods are in line with the classical method. For all beginner students, we work on breath control and tone to start before concentrating on song repertoire. Once the student is comfortable and producing good sound, we then start to look at material suited the student's voice. I try to keep lessons fun and engaging, whilst also making sure good technique is being harnessed. Read More

Every student learns at a different pace and many students learn differently. Music is an aural art form and I've found that many younger students haven't always heard a lot of music. I like to incorporate listening and appreciation in those cases. I like to encourage creativity and share ideas that show the student they can create music of their own. I like to see the student enjoy what they are doing and I like to point out their growth, especially when they feel frustrated. Read More

Every student is different, especially when it comes to vocal training, so I tailor my lesson plans according to each individual student's ability and needs. I begin with the basics of breath control and work to help each student find their natural voice. I use different vocal exercises to help improve tone and range and then incorporate what we've learned from those exercises into singing songs. We'll work on musicianship and the acting of your songs and strive toward a polished and engaged performance. Read More

I love tailoring each lesson to each individual student I teach. It is important to me that my students are interested in the material that they are learning. I enjoy helping my students reach their musical goals by selecting repertoires that appeal to them while also helping to address and resolve their technical deficiencies. For my beginning piano students, I typically start with Faber's Piano Adventures. For young singers, I use the Kodaly Method as a way of developing musical skills and teaching musical concepts.
