My teaching started at my time at West Valley College. As a teacher assistant, I assisted students of a wide range of ages and levels. My experience as a teacher with younger students comes from my background in music education and choral conducting. I began teaching privately about a year ago. I teach beginning students, who learn important musicianship skills and music theory, to more advanced students, who seek to expand their repertoire and gain a deeper understanding of their instrument. Yes, I recognize this sounds a bit "out there" but my point is we need to focus less on good v. bad. Why not celebrate the gift of every sound we make? The work we create must have a purpose. I believe that students should be given a platform and support to create something beyond the traditional recital. My dream is for them to create works to take back to their own communities in order to foster and nurture dialogue to make an impact on social change. Read More

I work with my students at the level and pace that they are comfortably happy. We all come to music and music lessons for different reasons. My work is to honor that space and demonstrate that making music is an option for anyone who wants it, regardless of any perceived “barriers” in place. I am currently learning and researching models of Universal Design for Learning. I apply as many techniques as possible to engage with students and make the music both cognitively appropriate and musically enjoyable. Read More

Music has always been a part of my life. I became involved in music, theater and dance at a young age, performing in countless professional productions. In my teens and early adulthood, I began writing and recording music and became involved in a number of recording projects that led me to teaching. I gave my first lesson over a decade ago and I continue to perform when I can. I graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy with concentrations in Theater and Music, and I worked for Women's Audio Mission in San Francisco. Read More

I have been teaching music in school and giving private music lessons for voice, piano, violin, piano, cello, and viola since 2003. Aside from giving private music lessons, I also conduct and organize chamber ensembles, choir, orchestra, hand bell choir, musicals, recitals, and other public performances. I have been passionate guiding students across various musical genres, including classical and contemporary, and languages such as English, German, Italian, French, and more. Each lesson is a unique journey where we explore the art of voice, discovering the beauty in every note and phrase. Read More

If a student is losing interest in learning I would brainstorm and adapt my teaching style to be more relatable to their learning style. I encourage my students to use skills they learn in our lessons to compose produce original music, perform with friends, perform in local music recitals concerts and simply have fun with what they've learned! I've taught students from 6 years of age to adults and believe music is a joy deserving for people of any race, gender and age! Read More
