My method is to incorporate proper technique and fingering, and though reading music is important, i also put emphasis on hearing what your playing and also understanding it theoretically. This way students will be well-rounded and be able to understand what they are playing from an audio and theoretical stance, rather than just being told what to play by the notes on the sheet music. I began teaching voice and beginning piano in 2019, and have kept it up ever since. I have taught pre-K children through adult professionals, with every age and skill level in between. I often try to include a “student challenge” most weeks in order to gauge how much a student is understanding during the lessons. I modify my styles based on what seems most effective for the student. Sometimes a student really needs 5 pieces to work on over a longer stretch of time. I have performed roles in Postcard from Morocco and Orpheus in the Underworld with the SJSU Opera Theater. My solo works include the Fauré and Brahms Requiem, both with San Jose Staté University. In the summer of 2015, I appeared with the Symphony Silicon Valley in R.V. William’s Serenade to Music and in 2016 I performed Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass with the Ireland Limerick Sinfonia.
