For beginners on string instruments , I start with teaching them the major scale in the key of G, and then progressing to beginner songs. After a few songs are mastered, I ask each student to propose a song theyd like to learn based on their individual taste. For percussion, I focus on fundamentals such as proper sticking techniques and rudiments. Then I begin teaching them how to use the kit properly, as we work into basic rhythm, eventually progressing into learning songs. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop and hone their skills! I am extremely hands on and I listen very intently during my sessions. I have a great "ear" which is my best asset. I encourage each student to progress at his or her own pace. I encourage this by maintaining a stress free environment. My teaching style is very student-oriented. So it varies from lesson to lesson and student to student. The goal is for my students to become more confident singers and musicians. In order for that to happen lessons need to be focused on them. I could spout teaching philosophies and strategies all day but in reality every student is different.
