For beginning adult piano students, I use Alfred's Adult PIano Method. For the more advanced students, music is typically chosen from a variety of sources, so that the student is playing music that is challenging and enjoyable. For children in particular, I believe that John Thompson does the most effective job of working from the fundamentals up to the classics.
