With beginning students, I will lay out all of the fundamentals, teaching all of the scales, basic chords, key signatures and time signatures, and gradually integrate strategies for reading music. Depending on what the student is interested in learning, I will pull from my pool of repertoire - we could be studying a Bach Invention at the same time as a Billy Joel song. Classical music is great for technique and in many ways textbook for teaching harmony, but I play and love contemporary music, and will teach anything, as long as there is some form of musical knowledge to be gained from the material. I always enjoyed performing, yet I fell in love with teaching very early, at the age of sixteen. A professor asked me to give a lesson to a fellow student of mine. A week after, the teacher called, saying that she could not recognize her student’s playing. The feeling of being able to make an impact was sensational. I work with a variety of learning methods including Hal Leonard, John Thompson, Bastien, Alfred, Hanon, Czerny and Faber.  I select methodology and solo repertoire to best improve my students technique while at the same time keeping their interest and enthusiasm. I also encourage music compostition, arranging and improvisation to those students who express an interest and desire to learn who to write and compose music.  In addition to teaching the fundamentals of piano I try to engage with my students to learn how to make music on the piano or voice. I graduated as a full scholarship student from the Manhattan School of Music with a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music pending. I have performed extensively throughout Europe and the U.S., and in every major concert hall in NYC including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, St. John the Divine and many other landmark locations.
