Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! It is important that each student progresses at their own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson, acknowledging accomplishments, fueling a students desire to progress, and finding ways to stimulate a students desire to learn more. Ive been teaching voice for over 5 years. My students ages range from 10 to 80 and they are In different levels and have different goals/interests. Although Im classically trained and I have many students following a classical path, using the bel canto technique, Im able to provide the student with tools to sing any genre, and for that I use a Cross Training technique, which embraces classical and vernacular styles, such as pop, rock, musical theater, Brazilian music (like samba and bossa nova). I began teaching beginner piano when I was in middle school and caught the teaching bug! (My dad was a high school choir teacher for thirty-five years, so I must have caught it from him.) Now I teach violin/fiddle, voice and piano. I believe that learning classical music and sight reading are both fundamentals to begin learning any instrument.
