I am a trained Music Therapist, graduated with a Bachelors of Music in Music Therapy, major instrument Piano with secondary instrument Voice. I enjoy working with young children and also those with special needs especially infants to provide sensory stimulation through music therapy. I use Music in therapy to facilitate language, social, movemen/motor and pre-academic skills. I also work with normal range functioning children ages 5 and up, to provide music lessons and music experience specifically Music Theory, piano lessons with accompanied vocal skills when required. Nothing is more important than the student enjoying themselves. I want to encourage my students' passion for music by allowing them to learn at their own pace. I believe in encouragement and positive reinforcement, I will never discourage a student to study music. Music is for everyone and should never be considered out of reach for anyone. After we performed, we would have a talk back with the kids where they would ask different questions about acting and my experience with singing, and it filled my heart to see so many kids be entranced by theater and inspired to be in the arts themselves. I had another class i high school that focused on bringing arts to different communities around Chicago, and once every couple weeks we would go to a different middle school and play improv games, create scenes, and sing with the children of the schools so that they can learn how to embrace who they are through performance. Soon I was asked to teach the other dancers to sing as well, and those were my first singing students. I’ve been teaching singing ever since. Even though Musical Theater is my first love, many of my students study a wide variety of music styles and bring personal storytelling skills to all music. They perform at open mics, school showcases, local musicals, churches, and clubs. Several have started touring bands or become professional singers/songwriters with their original songs receiving radio airplay. Read More
