I like to teach lessons that are fun and engaging. It is important to me that my students feel relaxed and comfortable with expressing themselves musically. I beginning with yoga, stretching and deep breathing. Breathing is the most important, so I like to teach my students how to breathe organically and free from stress in their body. After my own experience with it as well as teaching it, Suzuki has great techniques and music for getting students experience in sight-reading, ear training, and memorization. With the youngest students I start with the fundamentals such as naming the different parts of the instrument and some basic rules with notes. Acronyms and games are always the best way to memorize the different rules. I write out detailed lessons plans for each individual student, constructed specifically for their learning process. I began teaching about a year ago where I served as an adjunct faculty member at The Allegra School of Music in Hillsborough, NJ. What I love most about teaching is taking the time to taking things a part and exploring them, one thing at a time, concept by concept, and molding them back together to form a strong, solid technical foundation.
