I started teaching private singing lessons five-years-ago while still in college. Starting off, I was teaching classical and pop vocal technique to fellow college students. As time progressed I expanded, and began teaching children (ages five-to-twelve) songwriting, guitar, piano and performance. I taught part-time until a year ago when started my own private studio in Southern California. For older or more advanced students, I find the Guild Series to be quite effective and interesting. With these students, following their interest, we continue with sight singing, composition and improvisation. With adults, we work on what they're interested in (classical, rock, blues, gospel), but with a firm grounding in fundamentals: scales, cadences, etc. For all my students if they don't respond to one set of materials, we switch to another until we can find a good match. This allows them to find their limits physically, vocally, emotionally, and then to build upon their strengths to become the artists they strive to be.
