I use my students' natural strengths to help them understand the aspects of music that come less naturally to them. For some students who need advice for auditions and competitions, I love to discuss with them openly about plans, repertoire choices, and characterization, and I offer more physical and mental practice to make them well-prepared. Mistakes are how every singer improves! With older students, I want to help students learn to recognize their own mistakes and areas they can improve on. I will always be ready to help them on trouble areas or encourage them when they get it right, but I want them to learn how to recognize it on their own so they can develop outside of a lesson!
