I love the John Thompson series for young children beginning their study of music. For 3 and 4 year olds, I start out with John Thompson's Easiest Piano Book. We also work on keyboard orientation, understanding and mastery of the musical alphabet, note values, and rhythm. I've found for very young children, drawing notes with crayons, clapping, singing, keep lessons fun and engaging. My 5 and 6 year old students respond well to Thompsons's Teaching Little Fingers to Play. Read More

I started teaching private lessons in high school. I taught guitar, bass, piano, voice, and songwriting lessons at Biryukov Academy of Arts and Music for 5 years for both kids and adult beginners. I have performed, written and music directed a children's theatre tour where I taught children to sing, act, and perform in front of large crowds. The first two things that I teach in my studio is posture and breathing. I analyze the posture of the singer and find several yoga postures that can help the student to relax some tension and to be more comfortable. I help students to be more aware of how the breath works in their bodies by using several repeating breath exercises and yoga posture. My vocal technique is based on YogaVoice, meaning that I used Yoga principles combined with Vocal Technique exeecises to sing more organic and to achieve an authentic relaxed voice. Read More
