I graduated from Kansas State University in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance and a minor in Theatre. Over the past 5 years I have had 7 beginner piano students and 10 voice students of varying levels. I have taught ages 5-10 for piano and 11-20 for voice. I currently teach online via FaceTime/Zoom, am available to go to students homes or host them in my studio. I have experience in teaching voice and drums, dating back to my last semester in college. I have been able to teach young kids the absolute privilege of singing and performing. I really encourage my students to keep practice and warm up times at the top of their priority list. Improving your voice and performance abilities starts with warming up. I also encourage them to enter as many competitions as they can, as well as auditioning for as many shows across the country as they can, so that they can be noticed and people can see what they can do! I also encouraged my students to be involved in performances and recitals that give them opportunity to utilize their skills. Particularly playing in church is a great outlet for many of my students. The ultimate goal for me is to help my students develop a life long love and passion for music. The method book I begin younger students on is Piano Adventures by Faber and Faber. There are 5 Level books to complete. We use the lesson book, as well as the technique book. I also supplement with solo repertoire and various materials. For the older beginner, I use Alfred's Basic Adult All-In-One Course, as well as supplemental solo repertoire. Music theory is essential in my studio, and I use various learning tools to teach theory. iPad apps, worksheets, games and manipulatives are a few examples. Read More

 Every student, regardless of their goals or current ability level, will work on vocal exercises, songs, and sightreading.  The choice of repertoire will depend on each student's technical ability, range, experience with foreign language, and other factors such as personality and acting experience.  If a student has an interest in a particular genre of music, I am always glad to explore his/her personal interests (as long as the style uses healthy, supported singing!).  Read More
