My love affair with coaching began in the mid-1990s after meeting and working with one of the nations top vocal coaches, Seth Riggs. His method of coaching completely changed the way I used my voice; making it more efficient, focused and powerful. I was hooked from the very first lesson and have been coaching variations of the speech level singing method ever since. Another facet of my coaching is in the area of style. Read More

Much of my training techniques come from my experience with Voice Teacher, Dr. Joseph Collins (PhD, Vocal Pedagogy), whom I studied with while living in Nashville. Dr. Collins made clear to me many secrets to developing proper vocal execution and placement that had been a mystery before. I gained much more awareness and understanding of my own voice. I have enjoyed many years of private vocal instruction while at universities (Kent State University, Belmont University) and have learned good and valuable practices from different professors. Typically, I begin with regimented learning. For guitar students, I use Hal Leonards Guitar Method 1. For voice students, I teach basic breathing exercises and fun, sustainable and memorable warm-ups. From there, I begin to prep them for their first solo performances. I offer studio-wide performance opportunities for new and experienced students to show off their skills! As they progress, I teach to their interests and needs. Some students may be in high school prepping for Solo and Ensemble, or All-State Chorus auditions, or even college auditions. Read More

I love working with students of all ages! In 2018, I received my Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy from Charleston Southern University and have been teaching ever since. I grew up traveling with my older siblings who are all musicians, and we would perform all over for concerts, weddings, social events, churches, and more. As a musician of 23 years, I have loved seeing how music brings people together and am excited to instill a passion for music into the students that I teach, as well as my own children. Read More

It was important that I taught from application. I spent my professional life working with professional groups, I performed classical piano concerts regionally, and I worked with church choirs and praise teams. My piano teacher in Chicago not only taught the technique and necessary skills to be a classically trained pianist, she taught the passion and joy of participating in the arts. I attempted to do the same in all my experiences with students. Read More

I know that every student has a different learning style, and therefore, each lesson plan is custom-made. I work to further develop their natural skills, and making them feel comfortable working on what doesn't come as easily. Together, the student and I work to find out exactly what inspires them, and then all of their lessons will revolve around that. Read More

For beginning students I generally use the Suzuki books and have had some training in the method. I don't use a strict Suzuki method but combine it with a more traditional approach by including note reading, scales, etc. I also use the Faber books in conjunction with the Suzuki for piano. For adults I generally give them the option of choosing the music they would like to learn and then try to incorporate some of the technical elements by using scales and Hanon exercises. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
