For piano students ages 5-9, I generally use the Faber and Faber Piano Adventures series. For piano ages 10-12 I use the Older Beginner series. My teen and adult students normally work out of and Adult All in One series. For more advanced piano students Ill work repertoire, theory and scales/technique as needed/desired by the student. I am a New York City based songwriter, artist, arranger, producer, and educator, most often occupying the space between R&B and Jazz. My music is influenced by artists ranging from Stevie Wonder to Erykah Badu to John Coltrane. I went to Boston in 2015 to study Musical Theatre at the Boston Conservatory. I have performed in The Alion Baltic International Music Festival in Europe. I have lived in New England for four years, and spent a summer in Boston performing. I even had the opportunity to sing in Carnegie Hall and Radio City. I spent two years as a show choir director while in college. My influences range from Ella Fitzgerald, to Dean Martin, to Tony Bennett, and Barbra Streisand, to name several. I take what I like from those artists, and add my own sound to it. I had the opportunity to perform with JT and California Dreamin in Southern California for a PBS fundraiser. That band leader is John Tu, the founded of the Sim Card. Everyone has their own unique voice, and we will find yours together! I have training in several technique-driven styles, including classical and broadway. However, I like to mix and match. I'm not interested in teaching one certain way- I listen on the fly, and make judgment calls according whatever makes YOU sound best. I like to teach lessons that are fun and engaging. It is important to me that my students feel relaxed and comfortable with expressing themselves musically. I beginning with yoga, stretching and deep breathing. Breathing is the most important, so I like to teach my students how to breathe organically and free from stress in their body. Coming from an education background, I have several diverse experiences which qualify me to teach music. In college I majored in music education and developed tools to introduce beginners, both children and older amateurs, to music. I student taught students K-12 in choir, piano, theater, and general music.
