I began teaching five years ago with a diverse studio that covered everything from musical theatre to hip hop. I currently teach at a music studio here in Jacksonville, where I have a large studio of private students as well as group music classes for elementary and preschool aged children. I emphasize exploration and curiosity and encourage my students to explore multiple genres of music. I believe each singer is a unique individual, Therefore, the sound they make and the ideas they communicate are as unique as they are. My number one priority is to help a singer find "their special voice" through exercises that accommodate aural, and visual learning styles. These exercises lead to healthy singing and reduce tension, improve breath management, strengthen the voice, and increase range. For beginner piano students, I have two methods books that I use. For young children, I use the Bastion Piano Basics series. It is colorful, fun, and exciting for young learners. It is also very informative, so parents can help their young ones practice if they need the help! For beginning adult students, I use the Faber Adult Piano Adventures series, as this is more tailored to older students. It is less focused on colorful visuals, and uses language geared toward older learners. Read More
