At the beginning of our time, I like to set goals with my students. As we progress, we revisit these goals to make sure were on track and to see if any of the goals have changed. Students should always learn at their own pace, not mine, so I dont like to be too strict with these goals and progressions. Its all about having fun and learning a new skill! Read More

I began teaching when I was in college, teaching piano lessons to students in the community. Since then, I've taught in every church I've been a part of, and at several studios in the larger community. First and foremost, I believe that learning music should be fun! While I strive to encourage excellence, students should enjoy what they are learning. My students are encouraged to practice regularly and participate in public performace, be it studio recitals or in other venues. I was taught that sharing music is just as important as making it! In the past I have carefully guided students through the selection of materials that would insure steady, gradual progress. Learning a musical instrument should be a fun and enjoyable experience with a sense of personal satisfaction and fulfillment. I place great emphasis on areas such as theory, harmony, transposition, ear training, sight-reading, improvisation and areas of interest to the student such as musical styles. Whether you aspire to one day play professionally, attend a music school or just play for your own enjoyment, we can set goals together to reach the level you desire. Read More

I believe in promoting the things that make each student unique! I like to push my students to strive for new goals and achievements while also making sure that they remain self reliant. Self-reliance is going to be what carries each and every student throughout the course of their career with music. Being able to push and motivate themselves and hold themselves accountable when faced with different challenges are things I like to encourage in all of my students. Read More

I began teaching my first piano student when I was 14 years old. I have since enjoyed teaching in many different ways. I've taught private students, homeschool choruses, pre-K-8th grade (using music curriculum that I created), 8th grade science students, large choirs of beautiful angelic children's voices, adult church choirs, youth and adult bands, gospel choirs, reading literacy students, and soldier medicshow to prepare for their responsibilities. I also homeschooled my own children. Read More
