My experiences in and out of the classroom continuously pushes me to evolve my philosophy and teaching style. Music is not just about singing or playing the right notes and lyrics. It is about making connections from most personal experiences through the most universal language. This is the kind of experience I hope to share with my students through music in a safe, challenging, and creative environment. It doesn’t matter whether students are seasoned musicians or first-time singers. Read More

For my VOICE students, I believe in the 5 steps method. This consists in 1. Relaxing, 2. Breathing, 3. Vocalization, also known as Vocal Warm-Ups, 4. Sol-fa, 5. Song Preparation. My voice students know that their voices is the only instrument that cannot be bought and replaced, and for that reason, we all need to take good care of it and educate it so it lasts forever. For my GUITAR students, I start with left and right hand exercises so the fingers get articulated and well trained. Read More

Instruments: Voice Violin Viola

Vocal students are encouraged to pick songs from whatever genre sparks their interest.  With violin and viola I use the suzuki method of training and follow the books and lessons, and I use other books to supplement scales/technique.  If a student already has musical literature I am very open to using that to build a specific curriculum for that student. Instruments: Voice

There are two major philosophies I've uncovered when teaching lessons. 1. The use of descending lines to erase the "break" in ones voice. Early while studying, myself, I was taught to sing ascending, trying to maintain the same sound - this is defeating. Rather, bringing the top down is the "way to go." 2. Keeping the sound forward makes changing from one vowel to another quite easy and palpable. We generally begin by humming, getting vibrations away from the throat and into the front of the mouth. Instruments: Piano Voice Ukulele

It is my duty to help my students understand the excitement that music can bring to their lives and to the lives of others around them while secretly helping my students understand the importance of being good human beings. Every student will work at their own their own pace and goals will be set and reached based on their ability. My philosophy on educating a student in music is to make every lesson as enjoyable as possible. Read More

Additionally, I have produced a handout I give my guitar students, which show chord families from different keys. I teach my students how to cipher out the key of a guitar song. Once the key is correct, the student looks at the chords within that key structure and goes more or less figuring out by ear the chord changes. The student writes in the chord over the dot above the words. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
