Although I began my musical career in the Suzuki method, I intentionally balance the ear-training approach of that method with music theory to create well-rounded musicians. My students will learn how to sight read music, improvize their own melodies, perform in an ensemble (chamber and/or orchestral) and master the art of performance with a solid foundation in music theory. Before that I was the director of music, bands, choirs, and performing arts in Harrison, New Jersey, right outside New York City. I've been teaching students from age 5 to age 85. With my younger students, when they arrive at lessons, I asked them for their numbers. The numbers are the amount of minutes each younger student practices per day. I tell all of my students you should target a minimum of 35 minutes per day, per instrument. It has been my experience over 35 years of teaching, you always improve and enjoy music with the 35 minute minimum. Read More

. I really desire the child to enjoy lessons. I like to build their confidence that they are achieving. I'm strict in how I teach the language of music. I don't half way teach and desire my students to be able to sight read music and understand timing. If i have a student that doesn't understand I explain in in math and they have all understood how important timing is.
