Vocal students are encouraged to pick songs from whatever genre sparks their interest.  With violin and viola I use the suzuki method of training and follow the books and lessons, and I use other books to supplement scales/technique.  If a student already has musical literature I am very open to using that to build a specific curriculum for that student. Before that I was the director of music, bands, choirs, and performing arts in Harrison, New Jersey, right outside New York City.
