I'm a fun, motivated and passionate instructor.  I graduated from McGill University's Schulich School of Music in 2009 with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance, with voice as my main instrument.  Since then I have been teaching and performing around New York at historic venues such as Birdland, The Plaza, Iridium, Bitter End, amongst others.  I have also recorded an album with Grammy nominated producer and arranger Rob Mounsey and perform with the world-famous Postmodern Jukebox.  I have taught a variety of genres, ages, and levels of students.  Through my performance, recording, and teaching experiences, I’ve acquired substantial knowledge to bestow on my students.  It’s a true gift to be able to share my love of music and to help my students reach their potential.   Read More

For beginning students it is most important to me to help them build a habit of "how to practice" to keep their voice healthy. Secondly, I give them individual exercises and short music excerpts that they enjoy and we can learn together. It is important to slowly introduce music that is a little more challenging and that will keep them engaged and knowing of their improvements. While I implement many techniques and since I arrive from a holistic approach to the learning, I don't have a one size fits all mode. I enjoy learning how a student learns. Often times I will have a student do a bit of songwriting, maybe a couple lines - even though they didn't think that was an interest of theirs, but I've found that using many creative tools it allows for a student to hear THEIR own voice more clearly. Instruments: Voice Synthesizer Music

For singing lessons, I teach speech level voice production. We do scales and exercises to support the technical skills, and develop covers or original songs. We explore different styles if desired and can also record songs, which allows us to analyze each tapes and learn through listening to our own performance. I can also include music theory in the curriculum. For music production, I tutor in Ableton, Logic or Garageband. Read More

Singing is joyful and rejuvenating in mind and body! Hello! My name is Julia and I'm an NYC-based actor/musician. I graduated in 2015 from Shenandoah Conservatory with a BFA in Acting. I'm also a proud National Theatre Institute and Moscow Art Theater alumna. In 2017, I completed my year and a half run with the Broadway National Tour of Once the Musical as the female swing, understudying: Girl (piano), Rza (violin) and Ex-Girlfriend (violin).
