I have performed professionally in opera, operetta, and oratorio across the United States and Europe. I have studied vocal performance at University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music, the Mozarteum and Universitaet Salzburg in Salzburg, Austria, and the University of Maine-Orono. I have a BA in German Language & Literature from UMKC, an MS in Organizational Psychology from from UHartford, and also teach foreign languages privately. Voice Students:While the basis for my vocal technique is rooted in the classical Bel Canto tradition, my students do not end up having a "classical" sound (unless that is what they want). Whether it be stage performance, studio recording or personal satisfaction, I will use a variety of techniques to help them reach their individual goals. In violin and viola, I teach the Suzuki method combined with some contemporary and fun improvisation. I teach theory, but also how to communicate with musicians in general. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule i one of the key points I like t emphasize for all students, as it helps the student to progress and gain a higher understanding and confidence in their voice.
