Im a very engaging and passionate teacher who comes from a long line of musicians and educators. In 2008 I received my undergraduate degree in music with a concentration in musical theater. I then took a year to work in the industry at several regional musical theater and opera houses domestically and internationally. My method of working with the voice is to first get a sense of what the student's goals are. These include both vocal goals and career/performance goals. We will then work together to form a plan to achieve them. This will include exercises tailored directly to the student's vocal needs and desires and guiding the student to repertoire that will both be fun for them to sing and will teach them more about the concepts we are working on. My approach to singing comes from yoga. I begin every single lesson with about 2-5 minutes of breathing exercises that stem from yoga practices. As humans, the first thing that we do before we make any kind of a sound is breathe. I believe that understanding your own breathing mechanism will give you your most honest, authentic, healthy, and full sound. Every one of my students will be able to explain, what I call, "the pillars of breathing" and how it relates to vocal technique. Read More

My teaching style is relaxed and organic. Don't get me wrong, we will work hard! But it will be fun and enriching. I teach my students to appreciate the music they make, and to listen to themselves for what is working well, in addition to what can be improved. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments help a fuel a studner desire to progress and makes students eager to learn.
