I started teaching In New York over 20 years ago while in college and playing in bands. I have enjoyed teaching all types of people with a variety of interests and at all levels. I had the pleasure of teaching young children and creating fun and highly interactive lessons. I have held group lessons and also would teach autistic adults and senior citizens. I'm happy to provide individual custom-tailored lessons to make you the best player you can be. Read More

I am all about the arts of life. I play basketball, other sports, but also love to draw and of course play guitar with a few other instruments. I play music i compose myself, but I know how to learn covers as well, but writing my own music is what I love most. Outside of guitar, i also teach PE at school. I love to get out in nature as much as possible while walking my pet dog, aka wolf. Read More

I really take a look at what the student needs to learn and what the student wants to learn because I've seen a lot of students giving up because the institution or teacher is giving to much theory and very poor practice. I try to balance those responsibilities to a point that the student will always be learning something new as long as I work on their motivation and consistency of keeping up so they can learn how to play anything they like and want. For beginning students I like to focus attention on fundamental technique on both hands, making sure that they use the correct finger positioning on the bass. As they advance, the student will begin to know the whole fretboard through scales and arpeggios (in all keys) so the student knows where all the notes are in the instrument. For intermediate to advanced students I recommend books like "Connecting Chords with Linear Harmony" by Bert Ligon, "Fingerboard Harmony for Bass" by Gary Willis, "Funk Bass Fills" by Anthony Vitti, "The Latin Bass Book" by Oscar Stagnaro and "The Essential Jaco Pastorius" by Jaco Pastorius. In the first lessons, I explain the the beginner students the basic functionality of the instruments, the proper way to hold the instruments, how to produce a clear sound from the instruments and a Major scale ascending and descending, the one from which the first lessons or the next lessons is written. If the students already had books from prior music instructor, we pick up from the last lessons after answering questions t o make sure the students thoroughly understand the lessons from the previous chapters and he or she is ready to proceed to the next lessons. It's extremely rewarding and gratifying seeing some of my beginner students as well as advanced starting from scratch on a daily continuing effort, practicing and studying hard, pushing forward putting time on a daily basis practicing in class and on their own finally becoming and developing into seasoned and experienced musicians and joining musical bands some; and doing solo musical projects others. Recording and performing professionally. Give you a sense accomplishment having been able to change lives and be part of their future. Read More

I first began teaching when I was appointed by my professor to be the tutor for music theory and beginning guitar class at the college I was attending. From 2011 until spring of 2014 I worked as the music director for an elementary school. I taught all music classes for pre-K to 8th grade, taught private lessons and directed after school bands and choirs. Here I also gained experience teaching autistic and special needs children. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
