First off, I find out what inspired the student to want to play music and I'll get a feel for the type of music that they're interested in. Then I will create a custom lesson plan for that student. There is so much to discover about music, so I encourage setting small goals each lesson. Different students have different levels of perception or assimilation. This i establish before i even start the introductory class proper.
