I also taught throughout my graduate degree, teaching privately, cover teaching undergraduate students for my teacher, and also teaching college students. In addition, I led orchestra sectionals, coached student chamber music ensembles, sat on jury panels, and wrote and performed programs for entire classes of K-12 students. I started teaching myself guitar when I was 10. Later, in high-school, my teacher frustrated with my lack of practicing came up with an idea to light a fire under me. They suggested I teach a younger classmate. Not only did I finally start practicing, but I fell in love with teaching as well. For all of my students, I encourage consistent practicing of their instrument in order for them to grow and build their musical skills. Students are given scales, modern and classical pieces to practice. I find the combinations of these three things let most students see how diverse strings can be.
