Each week at the end of their lesson, my students and I will sit down without the cello and discuss everything that they learned and everything that they need to work on for their next lesson. Together, we set small realistic goals and acknowledge accompishments with small rewards in order to nurture and embolden each student. I always encourage students to enter competitions, festivals, and other programs, as setting larger end goals can be the ultimate motivators! Read More

I use a developmentally appropriate approach for preschoolers based on the Music Together curriculum. For ages 6 to 8, I offer Musical Safari, an overview of many instruments with basis in theory, solfege and reading, helping children and parents make the right choice of instruments based on the student's interest. For adult voice I favor the clippinger method added to my choir master experience where besides the technique, I customize the songs you want to learn with personalized arrangements in your most comfortable key. I started teaching piano to both children and adults in high school. One of them was 5 years old, the other was 6, and another was 13 years old. I've also taught a 19-year-old for a short period of time. For the two kids who were 5 and 6, they were total beginners at piano and did not know anything about piano so my main focus was to introduce them to this instrument and teach them the basics of music theories, scores, and postures. If the student does not express a total passion for wanting to learn the instrument, then I suggest that maybe this is not for them. The most important thing is that when they do have the time to practice, it is focused and in intervals that are divided up, so as not to loose concentration on what they are learning. Again, if the student is not enjoying the music with a passion, there are other things they could be doing that they enjoy! Read More

Our mission is to make music accessible, and we achieve this by offering low-cost small group lessons, theory classes, and ensemble experiences. As a teacher at the Saturday Conservatory of Music, I take pride in delivering rigorous instruction that goes beyond technical skills. It's about nurturing creativity, instilling self-discipline, and fostering a lifelong love for music. Seeing the growth and enthusiasm of these young musicians is truly rewarding. Through The Staff is another remarkable organization that I'm involved with. Read More

I am a 32 year old musician. I grew up playing the cello, starting at age 5. I picked up other instruments as I grew older and eventually went to a conservatory. I have performed in a wide variety of contexts throughout my life including professional symphonies and popular music ensembles. I have taught private lessons for 10 years in schools, my studio and in students homes. I have taught all ages and am comfortable with young children. Read More

Have fun. Love what you do. If it stops being fun push a little further ahead and see what happens. All it takes is a little ember to start a fire and I am ready to help my students find that fire within themselves. Its not always going to be easy and they will fall and stumble and when that does happen (and it will) I will be there to show them how to pick themselves up. Read More
