I give Suzuki violin, viola and cello lessons. I also use classical method with scales, etudes and solo pieces in my teaching as another option. With fiddle students I use Ann Wheeler method books. My piano students use Faber piano series. My Guitar students use Hal Leonard guitar method and guitar song collections. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a student develop a passion for music! Therefore, it is my job to have each student progress at their own pace. I hold recitals twice a year as a checkpoint to see how students have progressed and to have them practice performance. These recitals help motivate the students to practice and give acknowledgement to all their hard work and accomplishments. I have taught in one-on-one lessons, large group rehearsals, and everywhere in between. I started my teaching with a group of peers and professors while studying my undergraduate Music Education degree. We worked as a group to teach children ages six through 16 how to play violin/cello and perform as group. For all beginning students, I start with the Suzuki books. They introduce new techniques in a comprehensible way that helps build upon fundamentals before progressing to more advanced techniques. After a bit with Suzuki, I like to add the Dotzauer etude book, which helps to focus on one technique per etude, building on what we learned earlier in Suzuki. Then, once the student’s musicality has developed a bit more, I add the first Bach Cello Suite: something recognizable, yet challenging and engaging. Read More
