In middle school, I began performing and teaching music during the summers at Vacation Bible School for children ages 3-10. Throughout high school, as a member of a variety of bands, I performed at a wide array of venues around New England. During this time, I ventured into song writing and musical arrangement. I also spent some time giving private trombone, bass, and guitar lessons in high school. For beginning students who are children, I typically like to start with rudiments and technique studies. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will introduce the Moeller method. Later will move to the drumset and apply all 3 methods and became to develop what I like to call he groove and bass excises and different warm ups. When selecting repertoire, it is important that the music is going to challenge the students, but not so difficult that the students will be unsuccessful. Besides difficulty, intellectual design is taken into account when selecting repertoire. It is valuable for students go beyond the basic execution of notes and rhythms.
