Everyone who picks up an instrument is not going to tour the world as a musician. While this is true, every student can play and be proud. It is my job to help students progress and reach that level. I like to keep lessons light in attitude, but still put responsibility on my students. Work outside of lessons is a must for progress, even if only ten minutes is all that is possible. One of my goals is to show students how to reflect on whatever work they are doing and tell for themselves whether it is good work or not. Read More

I started out as a percussionist, studying throughout high school and in to college at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. During my time in Boston, I discovered a bustling bluegrass music scene and my focus switched to stringed instruments, namely the mandolin and the violin. Since College, I have been using all veins of traditional music to join in and build communities of artists. I'm very well connected in the New York City Bluegrass, Irish, and Jazz scenes. Read More

In my years of teaching experience in music, English as a second language, and biology, I have found that different students learn differently. Some do best learning by demonstration, others by reading sheet music, others through discussion and application. In general, I have found that when students are given individual focus and a lesson plan built upon their strengths, they excel! I make sure that, whether in individual or clinic style settings, I give attention to each student, work with them, and help them achieve their goals! Read More

I began teaching when I was in high school, working with an organization in my local community that provided affordable lessons to those who can not afford the high prices of private music instruction. I continued teaching privately during college, and began working in classroom settings the past three years. My experience with directing ensembles, as well as teaching private lessons, has led me to develop a strong curriculum that provides students with meaningful and relevant experiences. Read More

My experience teaching drums dates back to 2007, when I was in a band and was teaching the bass player how to play the drums. I've never stopped teaching ever since! I also have a lot of experience working with people. I have a master's degree in social work and helping people in every capacity truly is my passion. My empathetic nature means I can be really tuned into your needs as a drummer and tuned into how I can help you reach your goals. Read More

I have a youthful and oopen minded approach to teaching. It is most important to me that the student is enthusiastic and hard working. If these two traits are accounted for, the results will come inevitably. I always make a point to acknowledge accomplishments and inspire the student to stay focused and determined to improve. My teaching experience actually began when I was a teenager, when I taught my little brother drum set; he became adept enough to form his own rock band when he was a teen! I have been performing for over 40 years. I started my teaching career over 15 years ago.Drums have been my life, and it gives me great pleasure to introduce these skills to young people and adults, and help them express themselves and become proficient, confident drummers..
