I have been teaching for 7 years and under those years I have taught first timers and more advanced players and helped players get better at drums. I first started teaching friends kids and it grew from there and more people asked for lessons and I made more time for it and really feel in love with teaching. For beginner students I usually begin with listening exercises. We will listen to music and talk about what the drummer is doing, and how we can de-construct that. From there we talk about how that looks written down on paper and explore the basics of drum notation. Within this we will also talk about proper technique.
