My two favorite books for all my beginning drum students are George Lawrence Stone's Stick Control and Ted Reeds Syncopation. These books, and the rudiments are a great place to develop the basics of the instrument. After learning the foundations, I develop an individual program to meet the students needs and desires, making the instruction both educational and fun. I learn from them what techniques, styles, and other drummers interest them, and tailor the lesson towards helping them learn the skills that will keep them interested. Read More

I am a young and passionate percussionist who loves being involved in music performance and education. I received my Bachelor of Music in Music Education from LIU Post in 2013, and will be finished my Master of Arts in Music Education from Hofstra University in 2017. I have had many great performance opportunities that include two performances in Carnegie Hall and other smaller venues around the country. My goal is to teach students of any age to appreciate music as well as to experience the feeling and passion of music. Read More

To me, the student's journey ALWAYS comes first, and I believe that is why I have been able to have been teaching for 20 years. Most of my students stay with me for up to 11 years as I teach them how to speak music fluently by studying several genres and perhaps multiple instruments. I am extremely passionate about each of my students, being very diligent to 'see' the individual for who they are, sculpt and carve a very unique custom path to success on their instrument. Read More

Most of the private lessons that I have taught since this time have been for drum set, as that is the more commonly desired area of study for many students seeking private lessons. Of the group lessons I have taught since high school, all of them have been in a school environment, yet have spanned every age and ability of music student. In my career thus far, I have worked with students who were just entering kindergarten, and students who were already in college for percussion, and I have enjoyed each situation equally. Read More

After graduating from the Conservatory, I taught privately and performed in the Boston area as well as touring throughout the United states. After moving to Maine, I was hired to teach private lessons and assist with faculty and student performances at Colby College. In addition to teaching at Colby, I performed with orchestras, jazz ensembles, pop bands and African drum ensembles in Maine & Europe. Currently, I am living in Connecticut and teach at Miss Porter's School and privately at my home studio, as well as performing with a jazz group and a pipe & drum marching band. Read More

My teaching style is very laid back and comforting for students to progress at their own pace. I will always remind students to not rush and encourage them to have confidence within themselves. The most important thing for a musician to have is CONFIDENCE!!!!!! It’s important to develop that at a young age because it will make performances easier as they get older. For older students I will help them develop the confidence because I believe it’s never to late. Read More
