I start of my lessons by asking how much the student practiced for the week. Then I ask them if there was anything that was confusing for them so we can work on that first. I let the student pick what they want to start with first and then I will pick the next exercise. I finish with giving them a homework assignment and making sure they understand what to practice for next week. Read More

Every child has their own way of learning. Some are visual, others aural, verbal or kinesthetic. As a teacher I will adapt my lessons to each child needs. The basic structure of the lesson is review/present the new concept, apply it and at the end of the lesson discuss the new given homework for the following lesson. I will go to the student pace. I also take into account their reason of learning music and no matter what I try to make lessons interesting and fun for them. Read More

For beginner piano students I generally work out the Faber Piano Adventures and for adults I use The Older Beginner Piano Course by Bastien. For Flute students I use the Trevor Wye Beginners Book for the Flute. Clarinet I use the Rubank Method books. Once the essentials are learned I will add in various solo pieces and other method books pending on each student and their music interests. Read More

Teaching is the most rewarding aspect of my career as it is an important way for me to share music with others. I first started teaching private flute lessons in 2013 working primarily with K-12 students. In 2015, I taught flute sectionals and music classes for middle school students as a counselor at the University of Colorado Boulder Summer Music Academy. I also served as Event Coordinator for the University of Colorado Boulder's Teaching Peace Through Music chapter, where I helped plan and promote classes on music education and learned from instructors working with underprivileged youth. It is very important to me that regardless of instrument, the student learns healthy and sustainable techniques that will last a lifetime. I also foster independent student thought in lessons; it is a real joy to me when students not only progress musically, but as an artist as well. If they can understand music on their own without constant instruction or correction; I know I have done my job. A student that can self-diagnose their faults in music is on their way to being a musician themselves! Read More

I have had many students on flute, clarinet and saxophone over the last ten years and even extending back into high school where I often tutored younger students. My methods first focus on self discipline through inspiration and time efficient practice routines. I have found through empirical evidence that a student can learn more in 20 minutes with focused and disciplined practice than they might in 3 hours of unfocused practice. I have had students who fall upon a wide spectrum of musical aspirations, from aspiring professionals to students who simply wish to demystify their band music, and I can form each lesson plan to their specific needs. I'm a dedicated performer and teacher who looks forward to each student's unique strengths and interests in music. In 2010, I began my undergraduate education in Flute Performance at the renowned University of Southern California Thornton School of Music. I've enjoyed learning new performing styles by participating in competition and groups from across the United States. My musical background is diverse. I performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City, marched in the Rose Bowl Parade in Santa Monica, as well as played principal flute in university and community orchestras. Read More
