Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! It 's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. I prefer one on one lesson time. Parents are welcome to stay and watch if they'd like. I don't have a particular style. I started teaching privately when I was in high school. After graduating with my masters from Yale my interest and love of teaching has grown and become an essential element of my career. While at Yale I worked as a Teaching Artist in two New Haven public schools. I taught private lessons as well as coached chamber ensembles and ran sectionals. I worked at a summer music festival for middle school and high school students for the past two summers. Read More

For beginning students, I prefer to start them on a book based in warming up and getting used to movement in hands if we are playing piano. Throughout my teaching, I incorporate music theory and ear training into my classes as it creates a fantastic bridge to understanding the instrument. As we get used to our new instrument, I will recommend some songs to get started on and allow my students to come to class with ideas and songs that they want to learn how to play or sing. Read More

I've been coaching students since I was in high school in Seattle, Washington, and have continued throughout college and after. I've worked in several different after-school programs in Boston and now New York, and I am currently running a piano workshop at the Brooklyn New School. In Boston I coached woodwinds at two different El Sistema programs, with emphasis on giving students the chance to perform and inspire themselves through that experience. Read More

I am a passionate educator and performer from the greater Boston area.  I love to see my students succeed and achieve their musical goals.  My students have gone on to the college level at University of Massachusetts, Lowell, and University of New Hampshire.  At the undergraduate level, I played with the UNH Wind Symphony and the UNH Symphony Orchestra for three years.  I have had two full solo recitals at UNH, and I have had the opportunity to be recorded on the Wind Symphony CD: The Music of Daniel Bukvitch.  Upon graduating with two degrees I moved to New York City.
