From beginners to experts, foundational work is key to progressing as a musician. Beginners will start by learning technique, theory, and active listening and music industry 'must haves'. More advanced students will go into more detail on these subjects with a heavier work load. Expert students will learn what they have missed in the beginner to intermediate and advanced levels. Once the expert students have begun to polish their style, we will go deeper into the music industry and how musicians can work on their brand, image, message, and intent with their music. some lessons will be primarily listening, as it is vital for musicians to have a strong ear, as well as muscle memory with their particular instrument. My experience as a teacher covers teaching guitar to beginners and intermediate level children and adults. As a private teacher, I usually go to the student's preferred location to teach. Here in America, I also worked as a teacher's aide at Sterling Elementary School in Tooele-UT. This experience gave me even more ease in teaching children, who naturally need a very attentive and patient approach. I believe that my role as a teacher is for the student to learn to play the instrument in an easy, pleasant and intuitive way, based on theoretical and practical learning in an combined way. My favorite thing in the world is seeing someone I teach fall in love with music. Because of this I find it most important that my students feel comfortable and not rushed or pushed to hard, I believe music comes best when studied at the students own pace. If there is something you want to learn or a goal you create then I will help you get there, if theres something that doesnt make sense and you want to recap it then thats what well do. Read More

My favorite part about teaching is teaching beginners. It's so much fun to introduce a brand new instrument to someone and show them all that learning music has to offer. I mainly focus on the basics of music, and music theory in order to give students the tools they need to teach themselves when I'm not around, or if lessons have to discontinue for some reason. Once the basics of music theory have been grasped, it makes learning the technical aspects of the new instrument much faster, and easier. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Students are able to select their own music and share their interests with me. Read More

My teaching curriculum generally involves a degree of structure mixed with topics of student interest. For example, there are certain aspects of music that any student should probably learn in order to gain a true understanding of musicianship. Likewise, I certainly understand that it is important to find joy in the journey, and to tailor guitar lessons to each individual student. My hope is that each of my students will come away with a quality education in music. Read More
