I have been playing music for over 15 years and have earned two degrees in music (University of Colorado, Manhattan School of Music). Some of my teachers include the world class Orin O'Brien and Tim Cobb from the New York Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Orchestra. I have been teaching music for 15 years, during this time I have been able to understand the diversity of paste in which we all learn. My purpose is to inspired and challenge my students so that they can find their own voice and style, during my classes we find out what the best way to achieve our goals is by working hard, having fun and creating a musical relationship. My lessons are an interaction between myself and the student where I point out their strengths and weaknesses, an environment of love and patience where music serves us as the medium for growth. Music lessons should be fun - I have practical tips for practicing but the student's desire to learn will be the drive. The most important thing is to keep picking up that instrument - even if its for 5-10 minutes a day. By modeling that all teachers are still students, I create a safe and supportive environment. I like to hear what kind of music my students are listening to and incorporate that in the process, as it excites and motivates students to play the music that they love to listen to. Read More

During High School I discovered some recordings my grandmother had purchased of Chet Atkins playing Classical guitar piece and Larindo Almeida playing a standard Jazz tune. After graduating High School I began learning the guitar on my own. Read More

I create and tailor my lesson plans and course to each student. In general we balance working on technique, tone, repertoire (songs) and improvising/composing. I always pick music to study that the student is interested in as well as classic pieces that are timeless relics in the music world. I have several method books that I also work out of such as the Hal Leonard Guitar Method, Jazz Bass Method, George Vance, Simandl and several more. Read More

My teaching style varies from student to student. Playing the guitar is the most fun I have at any point during the day and thats what I want to impart to the student. Fun! I also belove in repetition. Playing scales over and over by yourself, sometimes, isnt so much fun so while i will have a strict regimen of practice it will be structured in an interesting and enjoyable format for both the student and whomever happens to be around, listening!
