I'm a passionate and motivated guitar teacher who loves sharing my knowledge of music. I graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a B.A. and Psychology and went in to the education field 7 years ago. I studied Jazz Ensemble with one of the top jazz musicians in Houston and have been playing guitar since I was 11. There is always new material coming out and I will also write my own technical exercises if the student needs them. No two students are alike. Because of this fact, no two learning plans are equal. While the easy answer is, "We'll begin with the fundamentals," the more puzzling question and answer is, "How can I apply fundamentals in a meaningful way to the student to ensure that they stay engaged, interested, and focused?" Some students perform well while having the book thrown at them; others do not. As a young musician, I received an opportunity to perform with my former orchestra teacher Ken Lattimore, who is now a member of country and western group Sons of the Pioneers. In my musical career, Mr. Jackson has performed with the Marshall Symphony, Orchestra of the Pines, the SFA Chamber Orchestra and the Mu Xi Chapter Men’s Chorus of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. At KIPP Houston Public Schools, my students have been featured performers at the Muscular Dystrophy Association Annual Muscle Walk, Downtown Houston’s House of Blues, the 2014 KIPP Gala, and with Mark Wood (co-founder of world famous Trans-Siberian Orchestra) in a combined Electrify Your Strings concert including KIPP Sharp Orchestra, KIPP Sharpstown Orchestra and Choir, and YES Prep Orchestra. I Started with music 17 years now . I began age 10 with cello. 2 years later started the guitar. Picked up along the way electric bass, upright bass, ukulele , mandolin , banjo, basic piano and learning accordion. All middle and high school was in the orchestra. Graduated 2009, then attended Lone-star for 2 years taking music classes. I was in a band for about 3 years. We did some events, but then I decide to leave.
